Aih....working weekend again.....

Well, that's the life in the field and on rotation.....no weekends....everyday for a few weeks is workday. Later in the afternoon we will be heading down to Rawalpindi's Cinepax theatre for Incredible Hulk. It launched yesterday but didn't have time for it.

This is the only cineplex in Islamabad. Not sure why they don't want to build more of them...or just the government wants to control it. Anyways, good to get out of the office and staff house once in a awhile.

Day of Worship

Just came back from church. Yeah, they have churches here in Islamabad. St. Thomas Church. Our driver Sunny invited me and Guillerme for sunday service since he knew that we were Christians. It was kind of him to do that. The service started at 11AM. Most of the people there are Nigerians. Weird....we don't see them at all around the city.

Great Entertainment in unrest land...

Yesterday, my boss came up to me...told me that we're going out to get a PS3 for our staff house. I thought he was pulling my leg.....but he was dead serious. I jumped up from my seat and we left the office heading the Blue Area. Went to this entertainment store that sells tons of bootleg dvds.

PS3 here is quite pricey compare to other countries....Egypt's the most expensive....at least USD1000 for just the console. We grabbed our brand new PS3 and head back home. Finally we can put our 42" LCD to good use. Guillerme tore open the packaging like a kid on christmas morning. It was a pain to have the HDMI cable plugged into the LCD, gotta remove the whole thing from the wall.

Anyways, after messing with some cables and some settings. Voila! Hi-def! Only game we bought was Winning Eleven soccer. Games here are expensive. Gonna bring some when I'm back home.

Now who says we can't have fun in this country?

Wrong Time, Wrong Place

Just got a briefing from our security officer, there's a demonstration going on in Karachi that's making its way here to Islamabad. They call it the Long March. This march is to force president Musharaff to resign but guess what.....the Americans wants Musharaff to stay as president of Pakistan. Now that is bad mix. Powder keg waiting to go off.

And since I am working for an American company...that might pose a problem. So we are told to stay in the staff house for a couple of days till this thing blows over or cool down. Islamabad has already announced a lock down of the city. Nothing coming in or out till further notice. Containers are being used as road blocks.....extra security check points.....not like that's a new thing here.

At least I am staying in a fancy staff house. A huge bungalow with 4 butlers. Just spend more time watching TV I guess.
